The Englis Language, British and American Cultures course consists of five areas: English Linguistics, British Literature, American Literature,British Culture and American Culture. These five areas allow students to develop a broader understanding of British and American cultures.
The major research component of the Master's course is the writing of a thesis. Support is given to all students through a tutorial system which helps the students with their research and the writing of their theses. Graduate students have the opportunity to present their research at the annual conference of the British and American Cultural Society of Gunma Prefectural Women's University. They also have their research published in its journal, Studies in British and American Cultures, and The Review of Gunma Prefectural Women's University Graduate Course. The society provides support for those students who present their research outside the university.
